Streets/Utility Worker I

The Town of Alamo is accepting applications for a full-time employee to perform maintenance and construction tasks of an unskilled nature, including cutting grass, removing debris from streets, loading and unloading dirt, gravel, trash, and other refuse. It also includes reading customer water meters and related activities. The position will report to and be under the supervision of the Streets Department supervisor. Much of the work is performed outdoors regardless of the weather. Experience in the operation of heavy equipment and/or a commercial driver’s license is a plus. Possession of a regular driver’s license and graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent GED diploma is mandatory. There will be on-call duties on weekends and evenings from time to time. The successful candidate must pass a drug screening and physical examination from a licensed physician.
 
The position does qualify for health benefits, annual and sick leave. The average work week will be 40 hours, with a set work schedule.

TOWN RECORDER ALAMO. The Town of Alamo is currently accepting applications for a Town Recorder. The position is responsible for a broad range of administrative, accounting, and support services under the general supervision of the Mayor. Instructions to the employee are general and the employee must routinely use independent judgement when completing tasks. The employee must consider different courses of action and sometimes deviate from standard operating procedures. The work requires frequent contact with the Mayor and Board, committees, all department heads and employees and the public. Must coordinate these to assure the effective and efficient operation of the city government. Desired minimum qualifications include: Any combination of training and experience equivalent to: High School diploma or equivalent, course work in business, public administration, accounting or finance from an accredited college or institution preferred; minimum of three (3) to five (5) years' experience in accounting, finance, or advance clerical work, including experience in the supervision of others; must have the ability to be bonded; must obtain the Certified Municipal Financial Officer (CMFO) designation within one (1) year of accepting the position as required by state law; must complete all required classes to obtain the Tennessee Municipal Clerk Certification; must pass a drug screen and other post offer physical by a licensed physician; must reside within five (5) miles of the Town of Alamo or be willing to relocate upon being hired. Salary range for this position is $20.00 to $23.00 per hour depending on qualifications. Duties also include other support services under the close supervision of the Streets and Maintenance Supervisor. Work typically involves standing, walking, or stooping. Work involves lifting heavy objects (more than 70 pounds). Work is performed outdoors regardless of the weather. The employee is on call at least one weekend per month which may include holidays.
