Public Works

Public Works

The Public Works Department oversees much of the infrastructure that keeps Alamo running.  From roads and ditches, to water and waste water management.  Town crews are constantly maintaining and improving Alamo's public works infrastructure.  Additionally, the Public Works Department manages residential and commercial water distribution, and the operation of the town's waste water system.

The Department works with its staff and local contractors to manage road, sewer, and storm water improvement projects throughout the town.  Staff members make every effort to ensure that the work conforms to town specifications while creating as little inconvenience to the public as possible.

To report potholes, sinkholes, collapsed road, etc please contact Ferris Arnold, Superintendent.  Phone: 731-696-4485 / farnoldcoa@gmail.com
  • Garbage Pickup
  • Brush Pickup
  • Junk Pickup
  • Toilet Test Tip
<
>
Garbage pick-up is every Monday.  Trash must be bagged and at curbside, in the 96 gallon containers provided by Republic.  Garbage must be at the curb by 7:00 AM.  Once your street is picked up, there will not be returns because of not putting your garbage out.
The County dump is also available for trash to be deposited there if needed. See attached for County Dump Hours  dump_hours.doc

Junk pick up is in April and October. See the Community Current News for dates and information.

Brush pick-up begins on the 1st Tuesday of every month.  Leaves must be bagged.  Brush means cut limbs or other naturally grown shrubs.  No household material will be picked up.
Junk pick-up is in April and October, see notification on water bill.  You may put out junk on the curbside 1 week prior to the pick-up.  Dates vary by year, so see the calendar on you water bill for the exact dates.  Do NOT mix brush and junk pick-up; they must be separated.  Tires are NOT accepted as Republic will not accept them.
To check and see if your toilet is leaking, try this inexpensive tip.  Put food coloring in the tank, enough to color the water.  Wait for 15 minutes.  If your toilet bowl changes to the color in the tank, your toilet is leaking.
