The mission of the Alamo Municipal Court is to seek justice and inspire public trust, while providing fair, impartial judicial process in a timely and efficient manner. Also, to maintain appropriate resolutions of Alamo Municipal Code Violations in an efficient, knowledgeable, and respectful manner committed to the community and victim safety, offender accountability, and the promotion of sound behavior.

- Speak quietly in the lobby while the court is in session.

All traffic related offenses and city code violations are handled in Alamo Municipal Court. Most traffic citations can be handled prior to court.
Contested Traffic Citations
You may appear in court to have your case heard before a Judge. You can enter a plea of guilty or not guilty at that time. You may also request a trial with the Judge. A Judge may dismiss a traffic citation with or without court costs. Any citation that is dismissed by the Judge will not appear on your motor vehicle record. All court costs and fines are expected to be paid on your court date.
Uncontested Traffic Citations
If you do not wish to contest a traffic violation, you may pay your citation before the court date in person at the Alamo Municipal Court during regular business hours.

- Cash (in person only; do not mail cash payment)
- Personal check, cashier's check, or money order made payable to: Alamo Municipal Court. Note: (there will be a $30.00 fee for a returned check).
Making a Payment
- Please enclose a copy of the citation with your payment.
- Please write the citation number on your check or money order to assure proper credit is applied.
Vehicle Crash Report
A copy of a vehicle crash report can be obtained at City Hall or the Police Department.
Mandatory Court Appearance
Your appearance in court is mandatory if the officer designated or wrote "Mandatory Court Appearance" on your citation.
Failure to Appear
Failure to appear in court or failure to pay a traffic citation will result in further legal action.
When is my court date?
If you receive a citation, you will notice the court dates listed towards the bottom. The court date is your opportunity to appear and contest your charge(s) with our prosecutor/judge. If you fail to pay your citation prior to court or fail to appear at the hearing, your failure to appear will result in the second hearing date, at which time you may show cause why you should not be held in contempt.
Can I change my court date?
Yes, you may re-schedule your court date one time only. However, you must make your request to the court before your initial court date.
If I disagree with the Judge's ruling on my case, what can I do?
If you are dissatisfied with the Judge's ruling on your case, you may Appeal to have a completely new trial at Circuit Court in Crockett County. This must be filed within 10 days after your court hearing. Please contact our court clerk at 731-696-5462 for further information.
Once the case is turned over to Circuit Court, City Court is no longer involved. However, if the City Court Judge's decision is upheld, you will be required to pay the original fines/fees to the City Court just as you were instructed prior to your appeal.

How can I find out why my driver's licenses are suspended?
You must call the Tennessee Department of Safety at 866-903-7357. They can tell you why and who has your license suspended, and what you have to do to get them corrected.
Where do I go to obtain/renew my Tennessee driver's license?
The local Union City Driver License Re-instatement Center is located at 1604B West Reelfoot Avenue, Union City, TN 38261. Their telephone number is 731-884-2133 operating hours are Monday - Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (Central Time).
